As for all Ressence watches the expression of Time is fundamental. To achieve the best-ever readability underwater, the complete ROCS 5 module is immersed in 3.57 ml of oil. The use of oil cancels out what is known as Total Internal Reflection. Typically, under water, a traditional diver’s watch needs to be viewed straight on in order to be read properly - otherwise refraction turns the glass into a mirror. The use of oil inside the TYPE 5 ensures complete legibility whatever the angle of view. A first for a mechanical watch.The remarkable capabilities of TYPE 5 do not sacrifice the pleasures of a traditional fine-watchmaking mechanism. The watch is able to withstand extreme conditions - but to do so with the modernist refinement characteristics of Ressence, right down to its seamlessly integrated uni-directional bezel.
